WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is an effective exercise system that was created in the early twentieth century by Joseph Pilates and was originally called “Contrology”. Joseph was a brilliant, innovative man and the history of his life and creation of his amazing fitness modality is quite something! We’d be happy to tell you more about it.

Pilates is based on Joe’s original six principles of:

Pilates is intended for all different ages and capabilities. The method can be a form of creative physical therapy while you’re recovering from an injury and it can also be an accompaniment training for an elite athlete. Pilates works to correct postural imbalances and to balance your body in strength and flexibility, resulting in a more fit body that moves with ease. Like our team has experienced and many of our clients will claim as well, it is an exercise form that can be life changing!

The best way to start is with a private session. This allows you to learn the principles of the modality and to develop keen body awareness to move efficiently. Your teacher will tailor each session to suit your own unique body and learning style, working together to meet your fitness goals.
